WISE student profile: Colleen MonahanColleen Monahan is a senior in aerospace engineering and is looking forward to graduating this May. At UM, she's been involved in a broad range of activities including Pi Beta Phi Sorority, the congressional debate team, Alternative Spring Break, campus band, the Michigan League Board of Governors, and Student Space Systems Fabrication Labs (S3FL). Says Colleen: "All of these activities have given me great leadership and communication skills. I have met loads of people that have been really helpful in my recent job hunts. All of these different activities have really given me a great understanding about Ann Arbor and the University. " Of course, Colleen has also shown a deep academic commitment. She continues: "At U of M my two favorite classes have been aerodynamics and aircraft design. I really liked them because they were taught by my favorite professor [Kenneth G. Powell, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, Sc.D.] and they are exactly what I love and hope to do for the rest of my working life. I got to work on projects with my friends that are directly related to the things I enjoy and want to learn about more." After graduation, Colleen plans to do some traveling, and then, in August, she starts a position at Edwards Air Force Base in California. Says Monahan: "I am going to be working in the Electronic Warfare group at the Air Force Flight Test Center." WISE wishes Colleen and all graduating seniors all the best in their future endeavors. |
