Resume writing workshop for undergraduates in science and engineering majors

The month of December started off with a WISE-sponsored resume-writing workshop put on by the Career Center. This 90-minute workshop included reviewing and critiquing dozens of resumes and cover letters, considering alternative ways to present the same information and brainstorming possible experiences to include on a resume, including class projects and research. December and January are the months for undergraduate students to start making plans for the summer. Many UM students apply for summer research opportunities through NSF's Research Experiences for Undergraduates, many apply for internships or summer jobs, and many attend the Career Fairs on campus at the end of January. In order to be competitive in these endeavors, students must be able to accurately reflect all of their relevant experiences in a resume and cover letter.
