WISE sponsors Science Library resource sessionWISE invited Information Resource Specialist Betsy Williams from the Shapiro Library to run a workshop on library resources. This hands-on session offered a quick overview of library resources and services of particular interest to science students. Students were shown how to access tools for finding published scientific information using indexes like Web of Science, Scifinder Scholar and PubMed. Going through the UM Library interface, students can find and print articles from research journals without leaving the comfort of their dorm rooms or apartments. Students were also given a quick overview of the citation management software RefWorks and EndNote. These tools manage sources and create footnotes and bibliographies in any style required. Ms. Williams also described printing resources and the library, how to find librarians who are experts in different fields and upcoming workshops offered by the Library's Knowledge Center. One upcoming workshop on RefWorks was of particular interest to the students. Post evaluations showed that the students appreciated the workshop, and WISE will use their comments to continue to improve such workshops in the future.
