Graduate Students: What Can the WISE Program Do for You?

  • Be on the WISE mailing list and receive newsletters and announcements about exciting and informative workshops and special events.
  • Want to talk to someone about the transition to work, negotiating the large impersonal university, or planning your future? WISE offers one-on-one counseling.
  • Interested in the issues of Women in Science and Engineering? Ever wonder why there are so many women in biology and so few in physics? The WISE Program has books on WISE issues, biographies of famous women scientists and engineers, and lots of statistical data.
  • The WISE Program has handouts about financial aid for women in science, engineering, and mathematics.
  • Would you like to work with middle school and high school girls to encourage them to pursue degrees in science and engineering? The WISE Program has many opportunities to participate in our K-12 programs.
  • WISE conducts research on why Michigan women students do or do not enter science or engineering field.
  • Would you like to meet other women in science, engineering or mathematics? The WISE Program has listings of various students groups such as the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) and the Graduate Group of the Society for Women Engineers (Grad-SWE), among others.
  • We are always here to listen to any problems or concerns.

Interested? Stop by either the Women in Science Office or the Women in Engineering Office for more information. Pick up a WISE Woman pencil or a WISE pen while you are there! You can also pick up a complementary copy of The Woman’s Guide to Navigating the Ph.D. in Engineering & Science.
