Undergraduate Programming
Women and men enter the University of Michigan with similar backgrounds in mathematics and science, yet far fewer women than men graduate with majors in the sciences. Undergraduate women are provided support in the following manner:
UM Resources for Undergraduate Students
This page includes links to UM organizations that may be helpful to undergraduate students and UM opportunities for undergraduate students.
Workshops
Incoming freshmen are identified by the WISE Program as potential science majors by their expressed interests and/or backgrounds. These students are invited to participate in periodic workshops, focusing on careers in science, engineering, or mathematics and on successfully navigating the University. Send a request to umwise@umich.edu to join our email group for workshop notification.
Counseling
Women in Science and Engineering staff members counsel individual students on issues of being a woman student in science, mathematics or engineering. Please contact Cinda-Sue Davis via email to csdavis@umich.edu or by phone at (734) 615-4455.
WISE Residential Program (WISE RP)
website: www.umich.edu/~wiserp
The WISE Residential Program is a living-learning experience for first and second year women majoring in science, engineering or mathematics. Located in Mosher-Jordan residence hall, the program provides networks, study groups, sections of first year classes, mentoring, and support. Initially funded with University moneys and a grant from the fund to improve Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE), this program has recently been honored by the National Science Foundation with a “Recognition Award for the Integration of Research and Education.” (RAIRE).
Multicultural Engineering Programs Office Collaborations
