Pre-College Students

Recognizing that an undergraduate support program cannot operate in a vacuum, but must build upon the pre-college experience. Women in Science and Engineering Program has developed an active outreach program to secondary schools. Our pre-college programs include the following:

RobotC for Girls- FULL CLOSED For 2016

2017 applications available 02/01/17 RobotC for Girls is a one-week, day program for students who will complete grades 8 - 12 before camp begins

Girls in Science and Engineering (GISE) FULL CLOSED For 2016

2017 applications available 02/01/17
A summer day camp for students finishing grades 7 and 8. Sponsored by UM's Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Program

GIDAS- Computational biology camp for high school students

Dates: August 1-5, 2016
This camp is for academically motivated current (2015-16) high school and 8th grade students (young women and men) interested in computer, math, science, and medicine.

GIDAS- Biotechnology Camp for High School Students

Dates: August 8-12, 2016
This camp focuses on nucleotide hybridization and combines UNIX usage, wet-lab experiments, and thermodynamics to teach current nucleotide biotechnology.

GIDAS- Camp for R Programming

Dates: August 15-19, 2016
This camp provides statistical methods in the context of disease research.
