miRcore- Computational Biology Camp for high school students

Camp Dates (2 sessions):

Session 1: June 17-21, 2019 (finishing 9th grade and above)

Session 2: July 8-12, 2019 (finishing 8th grade and above)

Location: USB Building, University of Michigan, non-residential camp


Grades: Academically motivated current high school and 8th grade students 

This camp is for academically motivated young women and men interested in computer, math, science, and medicine. The camp will focus on the role of genomics in diseases and symptoms and guide students to perform computational biology research using patient RNA expression data to identify genes related to certain diseases. There will be a separate basic genomics session to accommodate students who have not taken first year high school biology. This year, students will have a chance to experience wet-lab experiments.
